Testimonials

  • I attended Charles Sherman’s De-Escalation class. It was a great experience and gave me new tools and tactics to deploy while on patrol, to gain verbal compliance and de-escalate hostile situations. I would recommend this training to all Law Enforcement Officers and personnel.

    Jonathan Gonzales

  • Class was very informative. A lot better then previous verbal communication courses from other agencies.

    R. Gomes

  • I have had the opportunity to work with Chuck Sherman for a close to 20 years in a variety of capacities. He helped train me on gang investigations, officer safety and defense tactics. He is strongly motivated to train officers to meet the challenges of the profession by providing realistic training. I know he views training as the best way he can still contribute and improve the profession he has given so much to.

Trust through Training.

CA POST Trainings.

" Through my years as a Kern County Law Enforcement Officer, I learned that knowledge builds confidence. Confidence then helps officers make critical split-second decisions, increasing awareness of how those decisions affect the community's trust toward their officers. My goal is for law enforcement officers to reach a higher level of training. Thereby, making them better able to make sound Use of Force decisions which builds trust between law enforcement and the community."

Take A Look At Controlled Response Institute

Get in touch.

The Controlled Response Institute provides P.O.S.T, S.T.C and DOJ training to ALL California Law Enforcement Agencies, including patrol divisions and officers assigned to in custody facilities.

The training opportunities will meet and/or exceed the minimum requirements set forth by the California Police Officer Standards and Training, and Standards Training and Certification. CRI also develops and presents current and goal-oriented De-Escalation and Strategic Communication strategies for corrections and patrol officers/deputies.

There are currently over 509 law enforcement agencies employing 79,431 sworn peace officers in CALIFORNIA. The officers and deputies who make up these departments are all required to comply with the Continued Professional Training Standards and Perishable Skills Programs as set forth in the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.

We must attend a minimum 4 hours of Use of Force and 2 hours of De-escalation/ Strategic Communications training every 24 months. This requirement affects many departments who have internal training officers/ deputies who develop and provide the training as an auxiliary duty requiring overtime for both the training officer/ deputy and the officer/ deputy who must attend the training. Also costs for an officer or civilian to develop and submit the courses to the appropriate state agency so students receive the required credits.

We would love to work with you to meet your training requirements in our new facility.
