Here at Controlled Response Institute, we hold a wide variety of courses for those in the law enforcement, corrections, public safety and the criminal justice field. Many of these courses have PREREQUISITES that must be met, and we strive to meet and exceed these standards of training by offering our own trainings as well as hosting guest presenters to teach students at our new state-of-the-art facility.

OVERVIEW
TASER X26P, X2, TASER 7 and TASER 7 CQ Instructor certification course. With the release of version 23, we have enhanced the instructor course to teach students how to develop and safely execute scenarios and isolation drills and provide more in-depth scenario training. You will be certified to instruct others on the use of the X26P, X2, TASER 7 and TASER 7 CQ energy weapons.
*Students will be required to complete an interactive online experience prior to attending the one day in-classroom training.

Cost of the course is $495 per student.
All registrations for this course close 7 days in advance.

OVERVIEW
Students will be instructed in Arrest and Control Techniques designed to ensure personnel safety and awareness while executing their duties as Law Enforcement Officers. Students will be taught about Use of Force legal issues per PC 835a, including the authority to arrest and/or use force. Students will learn key issues related to CA Assembly Bill 392, Senate Bill 230 and Assembly Bill 490. Course is P.O.S.T certified #1428-29503-22 and meets P.O.S.T PSP requirements.
GOAL
This eight-hour course is designed to meet P.O.S.T Perishable Skills Program requirements. Students will be instructed in a facilitated learning environment was well as scenario-based training. Students will learn current legal issues, discuss agency policy, learn proper search, handcuffing and escorting techniques, medical aid requirements and proper use of force report writing.
PRESENTER
Charles J. Sherman, Owner/Instructor Controlled Response Institute
Charles Sherman is a retired sworn law enforcement officer with approximately 30 years of service. He started his career as a Detention Officer with the Kern County Sheriff’s Department where he served for approximately 10 years. Mr. Sherman was later hired as a full-time Police Officer with the Bakersfield Police Department, promoting to Sergeant and serving for approximately 17 years. In 2019, Mr. Sherman was hired by the Kern County District Attorney’s Office as an Investigator where he served until 2022. Mr. Sherman has developed his professional skill set to include Use of Force Expert, Gang and Narcotics Expert, Koga and PIDT Defense Tactics, Arrest & Control Instructor and Taser, CRCH & Baton Instructor. He is dedicated to developing and presenting strategic communications and use of force training to law enforcement personnel. His personal mission as a business owner and instructor is to build trust in the community through training and developing professional law enforcement personnel who make reasonable use of force decisions.

OVERVIEW:
This course is designed as a basic and refresher course for Baton/Impact Weapons. Instruction includes updated legal information on use of force, de-escalation, self-defense, duty to intercede and post-use of force consideration. The course satisfies the training requirements for Peace Officers and for Public Safety agency employees per PC 22295. This course provides updated legislative content of Penal Code Section 835a.
GOAL:
This course is designed as an introduction and refresher to Baton and Impact Weapons. It includes the straight baton and collapsible batons. Techniques which are taught focus on using the baton as a self-defense force option using minimal strikes and utilizing improvised and personal weapons in alternative methods.
Current legal authority standards of PC835(a) are reviewed and discussed regarding impact weapons, injuries and rendering first aid/medical assistance.
The course includes scenario-based testing and evaluation of students.
INSTRUCTORS:
Controlled Response Institute is a POST and STC certified training presenter. Instructors at Controlled Response Institute are certified POST and STC certified instructors. The instructor team includes both dedicated tenured active and retired sworn law enforcement professionals. All CRI instructors are dedicated to providing quality confidence building instruction to their students, through both facilitated and scenario-based training.

OVERVIEW
This is a Use of Force training course with realistic scenario-based training. This is not a "tabletop" scenario course. Students will participate in scenarios in a realistic manner utilizing several variations of training aids. Legal standards, policies and case law will be covered followed by multiple scenarios with the final exam consisting of proper documentation needed after a Use of Force incident.
GOAL
This 40 hours course teaches students how to take classroom learning and apply it to realistic use of force situations. This enhanced level of training instills confidence and competency resulting in better critical decision making during rapidly unfolding and tense situations. Skilled and confident law enforcement personnel can build community trust.
